Is A Soft Tissue Puncture The Same As A Biopsy

Jan 12, 2023

Puncture is different from biopsy. Both of them are pathological methods, but the specific operation is different. Puncture is to puncture the local lesion with the help of puncture needle under local anesthesia guided by B ultrasound or CT after the location of the tumor is clearly defined. The operation is simple and easy with little pain for the patient. Biopsy is a pathologic examination after a complete or partial resection of the lesion site after a minor operation is performed to identify the lesion site.
Biopsy can be applied to the situation where the lesion site is small and not easy to puncture biopsy, and can be sent for pathological examination at the same time of operation. Therefore, although puncture and biopsy are both means to take pathological specimens, there are still some differences in the operation methods. At present, puncture biopsy is widely used in clinic because of its simple operation, less trauma and less pain for patients. Biopsy pathology needs to be combined with the actual situation of the patient, and its indications should be strictly mastered to avoid aggravating the pain of the patient, so the two are different. In clinical practice, the selection of pathological methods should be combined with the lesion site, the size of the lesion and the patient's condition for comprehensive evaluation
