What is a neuromuscular blocker? A central anesthetic?
Aug 28, 2022
Neuromuscular blockers are supposed to be muscle relaxants. Muscle relaxants act on N2 receptors in the postsynaptic membrane (motor endplate) of the neuromuscular junction to block normal transmission OF nerve impulses, resulting in skeletal muscle relaxation. Muscle relaxants can be used as adjuncts to general anesthesia. With THE USE OF muscle relaxANTS, THE muscle relaxation REQUIRED for surgical procedures can be obtained under lighter general anesthesia, thus reducing the amount of general anesthetics used.
There is no such term as central anesthetic, generalized only local anesthetics and general anesthetics
