Attention to intramuscular needle injection

(1) Two kinds of liquid medicine need to be injected at the same time, and incompatibility should be paid attention to.

(2) When there is no blood return, drugs can be injected.

(3) The injection site is suitable for the individual. The infant under 2 years old is unfavorable to choose buttock big thigh to inject, should choose buttock medium muscle, buttock small muscle to inject. Because the buttock muscles of young children generally do not develop well before they are unable to walk alone, gluteus maximus injection is at risk of damaging the sciatic nerve.

(4) Accurate positioning, especially the gluteus maximus injection should avoid injury to the sciatic nerve.

(5) Do not fully insert the needle to prevent the needle from breaking off from the joint. Once the needle is broken, keep the part and limb motionless, and quickly pull out the broken end with a vascular clamp. If the broken end is completely inserted into the muscle, surgery is performed to remove it.

(6) For patients who need long-term intramuscular injection, the injection site should be changed frequently to prevent local induration. If induration occurs, hot water bags or hot wet compress, physiotherapy and other treatments can be taken.
