If you've ever experienced failure with a broken and worthless part, you may be tempted.
But there is a more economical way to bend. The “Controlled wrinkle” mold has gem-shaped grooves that tell the material how to flow to avoid crushing the material will form grooves, creating a unique gem pattern and a very nice bend. You may have seen this pattern on some OEM bend stainless steel tubes. It works really well and doesn't overwhelm your part!
This cool looking and well-shaped elbow works well for many applications. Trucks, road signs, fence gates and other structures to name a few. So keep this in mind. Simply making your own controlled wrinkle mold bends on an inexpensive compression bender is a very economical way to form tough, thin-walled tubing.
