The usual treatment for cancer is surgery, radiation and chemotherapy. And radioactive particle implantation therapy, actually belongs to a branch of radiation therapy mode. Traditional radiation therapy is external radiation therapy, which uses radiation to kill cancer cells. The implantation of radioactive particles is to use this principle of radiation therapy to implant tiny particles with radiation into the patient's tumor lesions.
Iodine-125 particles are used to accurately locate the tumor site through CT or B-ultrasound equipment to lock the location of the tumor. Iodine particles less than 1 mm in diameter and 5 mm in length were implanted into tumor tissue through minimally invasive puncture under image guidance. According to the size and location of the tumor, carefully arranged spots, placed enough iodine particles, from the inside out to "detonate" tumor cells.
