Long Blunt Needle Bidirectional Cross Sector (LeeXX) Technique

Jan 21, 2023

In order to explore the best way to use the blunt needle and to create the smoothest and most natural appearance with the least needle puncture injury, the authors improved the basic fan-shaped injection technique. A needle insertion point was selected at the base of the nasolabial groove, the blunt needle was inserted into the nasolabial groove up and in the middle, and the drug was pushed backward until the insertion point -- without withdrawing the blunt needle end in between. This procedure is then repeated in a fan direction above and below this baseline until the entire nasolabial groove is injected.
Nevertheless, the authors wanted to achieve a more natural appearance by cross-injection, so they bisectomized the nasolabial groove perpendicular to the nasolabial groove, and repeated the procedure with only one additional injection point to perform two cross-sectional sector injections, thus establishing a "long blunt needle cross-line sector injection technique (LeeXX)". Variations of the same technique can be applied to a number of other areas, but the authors mainly used the nasolabial sulci, the line of the lower horn, the subzygomatic area and multiple body parts.
