⑤ Intravenous drip for animal use
An intravenous drip is a large amount of fluid dripped directly into a vein. That is, after puncture the vein, the liquid medicine is continuously dripped into the vein from the vial through Murphy's drip bottle and rubber tube. It can be used to import drugs (such as antibiotics, sulfanilamide, anticancer drugs), nutrient solution, blood and its preparations, replenish blood volume, maintain acid-base and water-electrolyte balance, supply nutrients and drugs, dilute toxins, reduce intracranial pressure, etc. In general, the needle should be pulled out after 12 to 16 hours of intravenous drip every day, and then injected the next day. Long time infusion can lead to superficial vein embolism. If long-term infusion is required, the distal limb vein should be used in a planned manner first, and then the proximal vein should be selected for use. In order to avoid superficial vein blockage, the deep vein can be cut or punctured for intravenous drip. Common methods include incision of the great saphenous vein or puncture of the femoral vein and subclavian vein, and then placement of soft catheter, so that the infusion can last for a long time and avoid daily puncture. However, long-term stimulation of local blood vessels by the catheter tip can also lead to vascular inflammation and occlusion, so the catheter should be pulled out 2-3 mm every 5 to 7 days. Intravenous transfusions are performed similarly to infusions but with a thicker needle.
