The operation is very simple and patients only need superficial anesthesia. A long needle-shaped special knife head was connected with the above system and inserted under the hypertrophic inferior turbinate mucosa. Ablation or coagulation of the knife head could be controlled by stepping on the control pedal. Ablation of 1 channel was completed in 10 seconds. Ablation of 4-6 channels on each side of inferior turbinate is sufficient, so the operation time is very short. During and after the operation, there is little bleeding, no need for nasal packing, no pain, and no need for special care, so there is no need for hospitalization, ambulatory surgery. Due to the low operating temperature of plasma subturbinate ablation (only 40-700C), the damage to nasal mucosa is light, and the functions of nasal mucosa and glands are preserved as much as possible while effectively treating nasal obstruction, which is incomparable to previous surgical methods. According to the results of our prospectively grouped trial, plasma subturbinate ablation was as effective as partial subturbinectomy with suction and drilling at 6 months of follow-up.
