Why are CNC machining stages divided? What's the point?

Experienced CNC processing master all know that the CNC processing process needs to be carried out in stages, so what is the significance of doing so?

(1) Reasonable use of CNC processing equipment

Large roughing allowance, large cutting amount, can use large power, good rigidity, high efficiency and low precision machine tools. Finishing cutting force is small, small damage to the machine tool, the use of high precision machine tool. This gives play to the respective characteristics of the equipment, which can not only improve productivity, but also extend the use of precision equipment.

(2) To facilitate the timely discovery of CNC machining blank defects

The various defects of the blank (such as the porosity of the casting, sand and insufficient allowance, etc.) are found after rough machining, so as to facilitate timely repair or decide to scrap, so as to avoid unnecessary waste caused by continuing processing.

(3) To facilitate the arrangement of heat treatment process

After rough machining, it is generally necessary to arrange stress treatment to eliminate internal stress. Before finishing, the final heat treatment, such as quenching, shall be arranged. Deformation caused by heat treatment can be eliminated by finishing.

(4) To ensure the quality of CNC processing

CNC machining workpiece in rough machining, cut out the metal layer is thicker, cutting force and tightening force is larger, cutting temperature is higher, will cause greater deformation. According to the processing stage processing, machining errors caused by rough machining can be corrected by semi-finishing and finishing, so as to ensure the processing quality of parts.
