Sequelae of nerve block puncture needle

Dec 16, 2022

The sequelae of nerve block injection may lead to nerve damage, local anesthetic poisoning, vascular injury, bleeding, hematoma, and even paraplegia. Injection of nerve block needle is a kind of blind puncture, which may cause reversible or permanent damage to human nerve roots. Reversible nerve damage will automatically recover in a short time, and permanent nerve damage will cause sensory and motor nerve disorders. During blind puncture of nerve block needle, blood vessels will be damaged and a small amount of anesthetic liquid may be injected into blood vessels, causing local anesthetic poisoning. If blood vessels are damaged, the coagulation function will be poor and local hematoma will be formed. If anesthetics are injected into the spinal canal, it may compress the spinal nerve and cause paralysis, resulting in irreversible neurological complications. If injected, nerve block needle should be sent to a regular third-class hospital, and it must be used carefully.
