Welding technology is mainly used in the metal base metal, commonly used arc welding, argon arc welding, CO2 welding, oxygen-acetylene welding, laser welding, electro-slag pressure welding, plastic and other non-metallic materials can also be welded.There are more than 40 kinds of metal welding methods, mainly divided into fusion welding, pressure welding and brazing three categories.
Fusion welding is a welding method in which the interface of the workpiece is heated to the melting state and the welding is completed without pressure.During fusion welding, the heat source will quickly heat and melt the interface of the two workpieces to be welded to form a molten pool.The molten pool moves forward with the heat source, and forms a continuous weld after cooling to connect the two workpieces as one.
Pressure welding is in the condition of pressure, so that the two workpiece in the solid state to achieve atomic bonding, also known as solid state welding.The commonly used pressure welding process is resistance butt welding. When the current passes through the connecting end of the two workpieces, the temperature rises because of the great resistance. When heated to the plastic state, it is connected as a whole under the action of axial pressure.

Brazing is to use metal materials lower than the melting point of the workpiece as filler metal, workpiece and filler metal heating to higher than the melting point of the filler metal, lower than the melting point of the workpiece, the use of liquid filler metal to wet the workpiece, fill the interface gap and achieve atomic diffusion with the workpiece, so as to achieve welding method.
The joint between the two connected bodies formed during welding is called a weld.Both sides of the weld will be subjected to welding heat action, and the structure and performance change, this area is called the heat affected zone.Due to the different welding materials and welding current of the workpiece, overheating, embrittlement, hardening or softening may occur in the weld seam and heat-affected zone after welding, which also reduces the performance of the weldment and deteriorates the weldability.It is necessary to adjust the welding conditions. The welding quality can be improved by preheating the weldment interface before welding, heat preservation during welding and heat treatment after welding.
