Mediastinal needle biopsy points for attention

Dec 13, 2021

1. Postoperative treatment Needle biopsy should be observed for 2 ~ 4h after surgery, and patients can go home for observation if there is no abnormal condition through fluoroscopy, radiography or CT scan.

2. Prevention and treatment of complications ① pneumothorax: the most common complication. Lung compression of 20%, symptoms have a worsening trend, thoracic ventilation treatment is required. ② Bleeding: mild hemoptysis, rest in bed, oral or intramuscular injection of diazepam. A large number of hemoptysis can be treated with hemostatic drugs such as vasopressin after pituitary. ③ Air embolism: rare but serious consequences. During operation, care should be taken to prevent penetration into pulmonary vessels, and the trocar should be blocked with needle core immediately after each suction to prevent air from entering. (4) Tumor diffusion: it is rare. The clockwise core of needle removal should be protected by cannula to prevent the biopsy objects from falling off along the needle passage.
