Liver biopsy needle for indication

1. Unexplained abnormal liver function, cirrhosis, and the need to clarify the clinical situation of liver fibrosis or cirrhosis.

2. Hepatomegaly of unknown cause.

3. Selection of antiviral timing for patients with chronic hepatitis B (evaluating the degree of liver fibrosis or inflammatory necrosis), efficacy evaluation and monitoring, and prognosis judgment.

4. Consider autoimmune liver diseases, including autoimmune hepatitis, primary biliary cholangitis, primary sclerosing cholangitis, and overlapping so-called overlapping syndromes. Liver biopsy is helpful in diagnosis and treatment planning.

5. In consideration of hereditary metabolic liver diseases, such as Wilson's disease, hereditary haematosis, α 1-antitrypsin deficiency, etc., liver biopsy can be helpful in diagnosis and treatment planning.

6. Diagnosis of alcoholic liver disease and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease and determination of liver fibrosis degree.

7. Liver abscess it is recommended to perform puncture biopsy of the abscess wall (substantive component) along with catheter drainage to exclude malignant tumor.

8. The nature of the liver mass is unknown (but if the liver mass has surgical indications and the patient agrees to surgical resection, biopsy is not necessary).

9. If complications such as rejection or infection are considered after liver transplantation, liver biopsy can be considered as an aid in diagnosis.
