Hepatocentesis is short for liver biopsy. Patients usually undergo local anesthesia, one-second puncture technique with negative pressure suction, transcutaneous puncture under the positioning and guidance of B-ultrasound and CT, or direct puncture under the supervision of laparoscopy. Liver samples obtained by puncture are generally about 10 ~ 25 mg. After treatment, they are stained with histopathology and immunohistochemistry, and the liver tissue and cell morphology are observed under the microscope. Liver puncture pathological examination is mainly used for the differential diagnosis of various liver diseases, such as identifying the nature and cause of jaundice, understanding the degree and activity of liver lesions, providing the basis for the etiological diagnosis of various viral hepatitis, finding cirrhosis in the early stage, resting stage or still in the compensatory stage, and discriminating clinical efficacy. Especially in determining the severity of liver fibrosis is the internationally recognized "gold standard". In addition, liver puncture can also be used for diagnostic treatment, such as drainage of liver abscess, drainage of liver cyst, injection of drugs or anhydrous alcohol into hepatoma.

Liver puncture has been used in clinical practice for more than 100 years. With the continuous improvement of puncture instruments and operation methods, Menghini one-second liver puncture is now widely used, which is convenient and safe, with a high success rate and no obvious adverse reactions. If patients are selected strictly in accordance with the indications and contraindications of liver puncture, adequate preparation and nursing before and after operation will not aggravate the original liver lesions and the condition.
