How to do kidney biopsy
Sep 21, 2022
Renal biopsy is a routine examination in the Department of nephrology, which plays a very important role in defining the pathological type of renal diseases, formulating the treatment plan and judging the prognosis. Before performing renal puncture, the blood coagulation function, platelet status and blood pressure should be evaluated to make the blood pressure less than 160/80 MMHG to avoid possible bleeding during the puncture process. At present, puncture is performed under the guidance of color ultrasound, so the related complications will be avoided, that is, there will be no major complications such as damage to the surrounding tissues, organs and nerves. Under color ultrasound, the shape of the puncture needle in the human body can be clearly seen. When the puncture needle reaches the kidney site, a kidney tissue about 1.5cm to 1.8cm in length can be removed for pathological examination. After puncture, the local puncture site is compressed, and the patient is instructed to lie flat on the bed for 24 hours, especially during the first 6 hours of absolute bed rest. Do not turn over or sit up. Avoid strenuous activities for 1 month after puncture to avoid kidney bleeding. In the process of puncture, there may be a perirenal hematoma, which generally does not need special attention and can be absorbed by itself, but the rest time needs to be extended.
