Epidural needle injection method

1. Test dose

Test doses such as 1% lidocaine 2-5ml should be routinely injected. Extensive sensory and motor nerve block and other symptoms of spinal anesthesia did not appear rapidly 5 minutes after the injection, and segmental hypoesthesia appeared in the corresponding parts, indicating that the catheter was in the correct position.

2. Additional dose

After 5 minutes of application of the test dose, and the intravenous infusion access has been established, an additional dose can be injected. The amount of additional dose varies from person to person, but is generally 2 to 3 times the test dose. For patients with pregnancy, massive abdominal mass, elderly arteriosclerosis, spinal stenosis, etc., the dosage of local anesthetic should be reduced as appropriate. Monitor vital signs closely after injection.

3. Maintenance dose

The maintenance dose is 1/2~2/3 of the initial dose (the sum of the test dose and the additional dose).
