Surgical treatment of osteoarthritis
At present, the common surgical treatment methods for osteoarthritis include arthroscopic surgery, osteotomy and artificial joint replacement.
Cartilage fragments fall off into the joint cavity, forming free bodies, which we usually say "joint mice", can be removed by arthroscopic surgery. Artificial joint replacement, mainly knee and hip replacement, should be considered if the patient's condition develops to a serious stage, with serious loss of articular cartilage, too small joint space and loss of joint function, which seriously affects daily life and fails to respond to conservative treatment. Joint replacement can better restore the mobility of the joint and improve the quality of life of patients, but the operation of artificial joint replacement is more traumatic, the service life of the replacement joint is also limited, and the operation cost is high.
