What patients need to prepare for ultrasound-guided needle sampling

Patient preparation for ultrasound-guided sampling should include a minimum database of compacted cell volume, total solids, platelet count, and coagulation curve. The coagulation curve is optional for the FNA procedure, but it is recommended for patients with signs of coagulopathy or some patients undergoing ultrasound-guided FNA may not require sedation. However, patients who are nervous, uncooperative, or whose disease is difficult to reach should be sedated to minimize adverse events. Patients undergoing ultrasound-guided core biopsy should always be deeply sedated or fully anesthetized to eliminate movement during surgery. Fasting for patients can reduce inhalation-related complications during sedation.

Depending on the organ to be sampled, place the patient in a dorsal or lateral position. The patient who received the chest lesion sampling was placed on the side and examined from the non-dependent side. 16 Trim the surrounding area and remove the ultrasound gel to prevent artifacts in the cytology sample. Sterile skin preparation for core biopsy is recommended, but alcohol preparation is usually sufficient for FNA.
