What Does The Lumbar Plexus Block Needle Mean

Lumbar plexus block is a kind of anesthesia method, which belongs to the scope of local anesthesia. The lumbar plexus nerves are issued from the spinal canal of multiple lumbar plexus nerves, which gradually form plexus through the surface or deep layer of the psoas and eventually form different branches and distribute to the corresponding areas to innervate sensation and movement, especially the sciatic nerve which is formed in L4 or L5 downwards.

Anesthesia is injected into the local nerve to infiltrate the corresponding nerve plexus, and the anesthetic effect is finally formed. About 1% lidocaine or procaine is applied. This anesthetic method is often used in lumbar anesthesia operations such as lumbar disc removal and nucleus pulpotomy under foraminal microscope, and it has the advantages of precise analgesic effect, quick postoperative recovery and no toxic side effects.
