(1) Topical anesthesia. The anesthetic is sprayed on the surface of mucous membrane to anesthetize the sensory nerve endings under mucous membrane.
(2) infiltration anesthesia. The drug solution is injected into the subcutaneous or submucosal tissue, and the drug solution diffuses into the sensory nerve endings of the operative part to produce anesthesia.
(3) Conduction anesthesia. A liquid drug is injected around the nerve stem, plexus, or ganglion to induce anesthesia in the area innervated by the nerve.
(4) epidural anesthesia. The hindquarters are anestheted by injecting liquid into the epidural space to block the spinal nerves that run out of the epidural. The commonly used local intoxicants in clinic include procaine hydrochloride (Novocaine hydrochloride), lidocaine (cicrocaine), tetracaine (decaine, pentocaine) and cocaine (cocaine), etc.
