Bone marrow puncture needle is the most basic diagnostic technique in hematology department. We can see the morphological changes and composition changes of various components and cells in bone marrow. Clinically, bone marrow puncture fluid is often used for blood cell morphological examination, but also for hematopoietic stem cell culture, cytogenetic analysis and pathogen biological examination, so as to assist clinical diagnosis, observation of efficacy and prognosis.
Bone marrow aspiration is suitable for diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of various hematologic diseases. Unexplained increase or decrease in the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, platelets and morphological abnormalities. The diagnosis and differential diagnosis of unexplained fever can be made by bone marrow culture, bone marrow smear to find parasites, etc. Bone marrow biopsy should be performed on multiple dry draws. Bone marrow aspiration is prohibited for hemophiliacs. Bone marrow puncture should be done for women in the third trimester, and sternal puncture should not be done for children and non-authors.
