Medical ultrasound (sonography, sonography) is a medical imaging diagnostic technique based on ultrasound (ultrasound) that visualizes muscles and internal organs -- including their size, structure, and pathological lesions. Obstetric ultrasound is widely used in prenatal diagnosis of pregnancy.

Ultrasound examination is through the ultrasonic instrument to produce high frequency sound waves as a medium. When these sound waves pass through the body, they hit different organs and produce different levels of reflection, or echoes.

An ultrasound machine collects these echoes for analysis.
