Why do you need a bone marrow biopsy needle?
Nov 30, 2022
A bone marrow biopsy, or a bone marrow biopsy, uses a special needle to take a small cylindrical piece of bone marrow about 0.5 to 1 centimeter long for pathological examination. The operation method is basically the same as that of bone marrow biopsy. The extracted material maintains the complete bone marrow tissue structure, which can make up for the deficiency of bone marrow puncture. It has the following advantages:
1) Maintain the natural structure of hematopoietic tissue, which is convenient to judge the proportion of red pulp and adipose tissue;
2) A more comprehensive understanding of the degree of bone marrow hyperplasia, nucleated cell density and its layout;
3) The dilution of sinusoidal blood can be avoided;
4) It can assist in the diagnosis of myelofibrosis, hair-cell leukemia, bone marrow necrosis, and bone marrow steatosis, and can indicate the transformation of myelodysplastic syndrome to acute myelogenous leukemia. It can differentiate "dry extraction". Therefore, bone marrow biopsy can not only understand the composition of bone marrow cells and the distribution of original cells, but also observe the cell morphology, which is convenient to make pathological diagnosis, and provide an important diagnostic basis for hard-to-diagnose diseases such as aplastic anemia, myelodysplastic syndrome, bone marrow aspiration dry extraction and so on.
Bone marrow aspiration and bone marrow biopsy have their own advantages and disadvantages. They are two important means of diagnosing hematological diseases which cannot be replaced by each other. Bone marrow biopsy is also relatively easy, for the elderly can cooperate with children can be carried out more smoothly, for infants and children have certain difficulties. The biopsy procedure may be slightly longer than the bone marrow aspiration, and there may be a sense of distension during the biopsy. After the puncture, the patient was treated with pressure bandage and hemostasis
