What is the difference between subcutaneous and intramuscular injections of dog vaccines?
Feb 10, 2022
1. The scope of application is different;
Subcutaneous injection drugs have slow absorption and long efficacy, and are mainly used for vaccination. The intramuscular injection is well absorbed and takes effect quickly. The intramuscular injection site is generally the buttocks and the deltoid muscle of the arm.
2. Different injection depths:
For intramuscular injection, the injection depth is generally 2/3 of the needle, while for subcutaneous injection, the injection is made at a 45-degree angle to the skin, and the injection depth is shallow.
3. The absorption speed is different:
Subcutaneous injections are absorbed more slowly than intramuscular injections, so the drug remains in the body longer than intramuscular injections and is not rapidly metabolized.
