What is labor analgesia with epidural needles?

Dec 27, 2021

In epidural labor analgesia (commonly known as painless labor), the epidural space is a potential space outside the spinal cord that is filled with nerve roots. In this position, the tube (epidural tube) is used to puncture the waist with an epidural needle. After reaching the epidural space, a small catheter is introduced through the puncture needle as a way of administration for labor analgesia. During childbirth, analgesic drugs are injected into the epidural space through this catheter to reach the periphery of the nerve, thereby continuously controlling labor pain.
