A bone marrow puncture needle is an invasive laboratory test that piercings bone marrow fluid for smears to determine the components of bone marrow cells and to identify a number of diseases based on abnormalities in the bone marrow image, mostly blood system diseases.
Bone marrow puncture needles are generally selected as appropriate puncture sites, usually the anterior superior iliac spine, posterior superior iliac spine or sternum and other bone parts that can be easily felt on the body surface. They are usually carried out under sterile conditions. The puncture sites need to be disinfected and coated, sterile gloves are worn, anesthetics are administered first under sterile conditions, so that anesthetics are anesthetized from skin to bone surface, and then bone marrow puncture needles are selected. Along the direction of anesthetic infiltration, the puncture needle is inserted into the bone for suction, and a small amount of bone marrow fluid is extracted to analyze and diagnose hematological diseases.
