What is aluminum

Nov 19, 2022

Aluminium is a kind of metallic element. The element symbol is Al. It is a silver-white light metal with ductility. Commodities are often made in rod, flake, foil, powder, ribbon and filamentous form. In the humid air can form a layer of oxide film to prevent metal corrosion.

The aluminum powder burns violently with heat in the air and emits a blinding white flame. Soluble in dilute sulfuric acid, nitric acid, hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide and potassium hydroxide solution, insoluble in water. Relative density 2.70, melting point 660℃, boiling point 2327℃. Aluminum is the most abundant metal element in the Earth's crust, ranking third after oxygen and silicon. The development of three important industries, aviation, construction and automobile, requires material characteristics with the unique properties of aluminum and its alloys, which greatly benefits the production and application of this new metal aluminum.
