General principle of cutting

Tools try to use hard alloy, such as tungsten carbide and cobalt with titanium alloy chemical affinity, good thermal conductivity, high strength. In low speed discontinuous cutting, ultra-fine grain hard alloy with impact resistance can be used, and high speed steel with high temperature performance can be used as forming and complex cutting tools.

A smaller front Angle and a larger back Angle are used to increase the contact length between the chip and the tool front surface and reduce the friction between the workpiece and the tool back surface. The tip adopts arc transition edge to improve strength and avoid burning of sharp Angle and blade. Keep the blade sharp to ensure smooth chip removal and avoid chip breakage.

Cutting speed should be low, avoid cutting temperature is too high; Moderate feed, too large easy to burn knife, too small because the blade in the working hardening layer and wear too fast; Large cutting depth makes the tool tip work below the hardening layer, which is beneficial to improve tool durability. Coolant must be added during processing to allow adequate cooling.

When cutting titanium alloy, the tool resistance is large, so the process system should be guaranteed to have enough stiffness. Because titanium alloy is easy to deform, so the cutting clamping force can not be large, especially in some finishing processes, when necessary, you can use some auxiliary supports.
