The difference between epidural anesthesia and spinal-epidural combination
Dec 28, 2021
The combined subarachnoid and epidural space block is also called combined spinal-epidural block. In recent years, it has been widely used in lower abdomen and lower limb surgery. There are two-point method and one-point method for spinal anesthesia-epidural combined block puncture. At present, one-point method is more adopted, and the puncture point is in the L2~3 spinous process space.
Epidural anesthesia: puncture can be performed in the gaps of the neck, chest, lumbar, and sacrum.
Difference: The key to epidural puncture is not to puncture the dura mater, while the combined spinal-epidural block (one-point method) requires subarachnoid puncture after successful epidural puncture.
