Safety intravenous catheter

Once in the patient's vein, the catheter valve is activated by a Luer joint connected to the infusion line, which opens the valve to allow unrestricted flow. Safety IV catheters also help prevent accidental needling. Its safety cover surrounds the retracted guiding needle and makes a "click" sound to indicate that the needle is contained for handling and disposal.
