Puncture needles belong to several classes of medical instruments

Objective To measure the tip of several kinds of Tuohy epidural needle (EN) and discuss its clinical significance. Methods Fifty-one 18GEN from six different manufacturers were processed by computer and measured on the printed image. (1) The distance PA between the central axis L of EN and the intersection point A of the back of the oblique mouth of the needle to the tip P. (2) The vertical distance PB from P to L. (3) The Angle β between PC and PA of the longest needle diagonal. To observe the difficulty of passing 25G nib lumbar anesthesia needle (SN) through EN oblique opening in vitro and measure the Angle α between SN and EN. Results (1)PA, PB, β and α were significantly different among EN (P0.05 or P0.01). (2) The difficulty of transiting various EN by SN varies (P0.01). (3) There were significant differences in PA, PB, β and α among different degrees of difficulty (P0.01). Conclusion The shape of EN tip produced by different manufacturers is different
