Postoperative nursing care of abdominal puncture needle drainage

Nov 17, 2022

The nursing care after abdominal puncture and drainage operation mainly includes the following points:

1. Peritoneal puncture drainage is usually due to the accumulation of effusion or even pus in the peritoneal cavity, so it is usually necessary to retain a little puncture fluid after successful puncture, send it for bacterial culture and carry out drug sensitivity test. In clinical practice, antibiotics are usually selected according to experience, which is generally more accurate and reliable according to drug sensitivity and bacterial culture results.

2. The drainage tube for abdominal puncture should be properly fixed to prevent the puncture drainage tube from falling off when the patient is active, resulting in puncture failure.

3. For abdominal puncture drainage, if it is an abdominal abscess, continuous low negative pressure suction can be considered, and even normal saline or appropriate antibiotics can be added to flush the abdominal cavity, so as to attract the exude or pus in the abdominal cavity clean through negative pressure suction. If no pus or fluid is extracted for more than 24 to 48 hours and there is no fluid accumulation in the abdominal cavity confirmed by B ultrasound or CT, the drainage tube can be removed.
