Is it risky to do a puncture?
May 04, 2022
There are two main risks of liver puncture: first, bleeding; second, stabbing the lungs. The blood supply of the liver is relatively rich. Under the positioning of color Doppler ultrasound, doctors will choose to avoid large blood vessels. However, due to abnormal anatomical structure, the distribution of blood vessels in some people is different from that of normal people. For small blood vessels, color Doppler ultrasound cannot completely avoid them. It may puncture a small blood vessel and cause bleeding. During the puncture, the patient is required to hold his breath for a short period of time. Some people may not be able to cooperate with the breath-holding, the breath-holding time is not enough, or the breathing causes the lung to move down due to tension, and the puncture needle just penetrates the lung to cause a pneumothorax. But in general, the probability of occurrence of the above is very low, and liver puncture is still a relatively safe examination. Chongqing Tongji Hepatology Department
