Is it dangerous to do a puncture?

May 04, 2022

Needle biopsy is to insert a puncture needle into the diseased area under the guidance of CT or B-ultrasound to remove part of the diseased tissue. The harm of puncture is very small. Injured blood vessels during the operation can cause bleeding, but the amount of bleeding is not large. The main reasons include the following:

1. The puncture needles used for biopsy are relatively thin, and the specifications include diameters of 1.22mm, 1.6mm, and 0.9mm. For superficial tissues, choose relatively thick puncture needles. For organs with greater risk, choose relatively thin puncture needles. Choose a 1.22mm puncture needle;

2. Blood can coagulate on its own;

3. Biopsies are mostly carried out under the guidance of B-ultrasound or CT, which can avoid large blood vessel damage during the puncture process.
