Iodine-125 particle puncture needle implantation

Nov 11, 2022

1. Iodine-125 radioactive particle: It is a radionuclide. Through the use of special equipment to plant particles into the tumor lesion area, particles permanently stay in the body, long-term uninterrupted effect on the tumor, play a therapeutic role.

2. Treatment guidance of iodine-125 radioactive particle implantation:

1) Preoperative routine preparation: preoperative diet should be light and easy to digest, and those who need general anesthesia should refrain from water. Practice defecating on the bed. Enter the operating room after defecating before operation.

2) Intraoperative position: Appropriate position should be taken according to the location of the lesion.

3) Prostrate for 24 hours after the operation. If there is bleeding after the operation, the bed time can be extended appropriately. The implantation site of the lesion particles is covered with lead to reduce the radiation to the surrounding population.

4) After surgery, observe whether the puncture site has pain and blood oozing, whether the urine and feces can be excreted by themselves, and whether the lower limbs feel normal. Closely monitor vital signs, especially changes in blood pressure.

3. Dietary guidance: light, easy to digest, nutritious food should be avoided, greasy, raw and cold food, patients are encouraged to eat more fresh vegetables, fruits and so on. When necessary, foods rich in protein and trace elements such as iron, calcium and phosphorus can be eaten, such as lean meat and milk. Drink plenty of water.

4. Life guidance: 1) Patients should rest in bed and go out as little as possible. 2) Close contact with pregnant women, children and people with low immunity should not be allowed within half a year. 3) When in close contact with people, it is better to cover the implantation site of focal particles with lead to reduce the radiation to the surrounding population. 4) Stay away from the workplace for half a year.
