How to make flanges in general

The production process is mainly divided into forging, casting, cutting, rolling these four kinds.

1. Casting flange and forging flange

Casting flange processing:

Put the selected raw material steel into the medium frequency electric furnace for melting, so that the temperature of molten steel can reach 1600-1700℃; The metal mold is pre-heated to 800-900℃ to maintain a constant temperature; Start the centrifuge and pour the molten steel into the preheated metal mold; The casting is naturally cooled to 800-900℃ for 1-10 minutes; Cool the casting with water to close to room temperature, and remove the mold.

Forging flange production process:

The forging process is generally composed of the following procedures, namely selecting high-quality billet feeding, heating, forming, and cooling after forging. The forging process includes free forging, die forging and membrane forging. Production, according to the size of the forging quality, the number of production batch choose different forging methods.

The die forging has high dimensional accuracy, small machining allowance and more reasonable distribution of fiber structure, which can further improve the service life of parts.

The basic process of free forging: In free forging, the shape of the forgings is gradually forged into the blank by some basic deformation procedures. The basic processes of free forging include upsetting, drawing, punching, bending and cutting.

2, die forging,

The full name of die forging is model forging. The heated blank is placed in the forging die fixed on the die forging equipment.

Die forging process: blanking, heating, pre-forging, final forging, blanking, trimming, conditioning, shot peening. Common processes include upsetting, drawing, bending, punching and forming.

3. Cutting flange

The disc with the inner and outer diameter and thickness of the flange is cut out directly on the middle plate, and then the bolt hole and water line are processed. The flange produced in this way is called cut flange, and the maximum diameter of this type of flange is limited by the width of the middle plate.

4. Winding flange

The process of cutting slivers from a medium plate and then winding them into a circle is called winding, which is used in the production of some large flanges. After the winding is completed, welding is performed, then flattening is performed, and the waterline and bolt holes are processed.
