How painful tonsil puncture needles are

Dec 09, 2021

Tonsillar puncture is mainly aimed at patients with abscess around the tonsils, which will have a certain degree of pain. Due to the need for puncture and suction of thick pus, the puncture needle is relatively thick. However, before puncture of the abscess around the tonsil, the local mucosa of the throat will be subjected to surface infiltration and anesthesia, which can reduce the pain during puncture to a certain extent. Therefore, the pain sensation is generally within the tolerable range during the puncture of the abscess around the tonsil. After the puncture and drainage of the abscess, the pain sensation caused by inflammation in the local tonsil will be significantly improved.
