The important alloys of copper are as follows:
brass
Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc, so named because of its yellow color. Brass mechanical properties and wear resistance are very good, can be used in the manufacture of precision instruments, ship parts, gun shells and so on. Brass sounds good when struck, so instruments such as gongs, cymbals, bells, and trumpets are made of brass.
Marine brass
An alloy of copper with zinc and tin, resistant to sea erosion, used in making ship parts and balancers.
bronze
The alloy of copper and tin is called bronze, so named because of its green color. Bronze generally has good corrosion resistance, wear resistance, casting and excellent mechanical properties. Used for manufacturing precision bearings, high pressure bearings, Marine corrosion resistant mechanical parts and a variety of plate, pipe, bar and so on. Bronze also has the unusual property of "shrinking in heat and expanding in cold", which is used to make statues. When it cools, it expands, allowing for clearer features.
Phosphor bronze
Alloy of copper with tin and phosphorus, hard, can be made into springs.
cupronickel
White copper is copper and nickel alloy, its color and silver, silver glitter, not easy to rust. It is often used to make electrical appliances, meters and decorations.
