How long will the liver puncture needle be in the hospital?

Mar 21, 2022

Liver puncture generally requires two or three days of hospitalization before discharge. Precautions for liver puncture:

1. Patients with bleeding tendency, massive ascites, hepatic hydatid disease, hepatic hemangioma, right empyema, subphrenic abscess, extrahepatic obstructive jaundice, and uncooperative patients should be contraindicated in liver puncture.

2. Closely observe the condition after puncture, stay in bed within 24 hours, measure blood pressure and pulse regularly, pay attention to whether there is internal bleeding and pneumothorax, immediately notify the doctor, and actively assist in the treatment.

3. The patient's condition has improved, and after a good operation, remove the sandbag and abdominal girdle 24 hours later.

4. The puncture or needle extraction must be performed under the condition that the patient pauses breathing, so as to prevent the needle tip from scratching the liver surface and causing hemorrhage. If the puncture is unsuccessful, the puncture needle is withdrawn to the subcutaneous surface, and if necessary, the direction of the puncture is changed, and the puncture is repeated, but it should not be more than three times.
