The current methods for diagnosing liver fibrosis can be divided into three parts.

(1) Pathological diagnosis: So far, the most reliable way to diagnose liver fibrosis is still liver biopsy. However, there are many problems in liver biopsy itself, such as sampling errors caused by the inhomogeneity of liver lesions, and due to the existence of certain damage, it is difficult for patients to accept, and it is difficult to repeatedly collect materials, so it is impossible to dynamically observe liver fibrosis and Fibrosis formation. In addition, there is currently no reliable method to determine the content of collagen in liver tissue, and only approximate estimates are made based on the condition of intrahepatic fibrosis, so there are certain limitations.

(2) Imaging diagnosis: The specific identification of fibrosis is an important issue in imaging studies, but X-ray and B-ultrasound cannot make the diagnosis and differential diagnosis of fibrosis. In recent years, attempts have been made to use magnetic resonance imaging to assist in the diagnosis of fibrotic lesions.

(3) Serological diagnosis: Serological diagnosis is the most widely studied method for diagnosing liver fibrosis.

Because the method is convenient to obtain materials and cheap, it is more practical. Among them, the most important indicators are related to collagen, especially type III procollagen amino-terminal propeptide (P III P), which is the most widely used clinical indicator so far. In addition, type III procollagen (PC III), type IV Collagen and its fragments, laminarin (LN), fibronectin (FN), etc., are also reported more and have greater diagnostic value for liver fibrosis.
