How does the fine-needle cell puncture test get painful?
Dec 29, 2021
Fine-needle aspiration cytopathological examination is a method of pathological diagnosis. It uses micro-injury technology to extract a certain number of cells from the lesion site through a No. 5 syringe and its needle for analysis, which provides a reference for clinical diagnosis. This technical operation is usually convenient and safe, but because it is a minimally invasive inspection method that requires puncture and cell extraction of the lesion, there are inevitably some risks and complications, including (but not limited to) :
① Neurogenic shock (commonly known as halo needle)
②Bleeding at or around the puncture site caused by damage to the blood vessel
③Injury to nerves and unforeseen accidental injuries
④Depending on the situation, re-puncture or multiple punctures are sometimes required
⑤Slight pain at the puncture site; this examination is different from a biopsy of the tumor, and has certain limitations. The puncture may deviate from the lesion in the tumor, causing the examination result to not objectively reflect the pathological changes, so the result is for clinical reference only
