22G spinal needle with a tapered 27G pencil-point tip

The design of the 22/27G spinal needle tested in this study. The needle is inserted with the aid of an external introducer needle. The spinal needle is 103 mm in length; the proximal 88 mm has a 22G external diameter and the distal 14 mm has a 27G external diameter with a pencil-point tip.
