Titanium alloys are mainly used in medical bone and joint transplants and in the aerospace industry. The main problem with these implants is the cost of the implants because the cost of these materials and processing costs are very high due to the high surface finish. There are many parameters that determine the material, such as high surface finish and processing cost. Surface finish is a very important factor because poor surface finish can cause metals to react with the body in a variety of ways, which can cause metal ions to enter the bones and lead to a number of health problems. Therefore, surface finish is the most important factor to bear in mind when processing. Optimization is also an important factor in machining, as titanium is a hard material (36 HRC) and cannot be operated with a conventional carbide tool. For harder materials, diamond or CBN tools are basically used. Diamond is the hardest material, but the cost is quite high, so CBN is used.
