Why Do Lung Puncture Needle Biopsies

For abnormal space-occupying lesions in the lungs, puncture biopsy is needed to further clarify whether it is benign or malignant space-occupying. If the nodule is larger than 1cm, percutaneous lung biopsy can be performed by CT localization. If the nodule is small, the risk of lung puncture biopsy is greater, and it is easy to cause pneumothorax and hemopneumax.
The patient presented with cough, blood in sputum, chest tightness, shortness of breath, etc. If a lung puncture biopsy is performed near the hilum of the lung, the puncture risk is greater due to the abundance of blood vessels. If the lung occupies abnormal space around the lung, the puncture risk is relatively small. Lung puncture biopsy is mainly used to confirm benign or malignant occupation. The results of puncture biopsy are for reference only, and the accurate diagnosis still needs to be further confirmed by histopathological examination of frozen section after complete resection of the chest mass.
