Continuous EPIDURAL ANEASTHESIA (CEA), referred to as continuous epidural aneasthesia (CEA), is a needle piercing into the epidural space from the back. A very thin tube is placed through the needle to inject local anesthetics, which produce the anesthetic effect of the lower body. The anesthesia eliminates the patient's pain and temperature. But the sense of touch does not disappear, and the patient can remain awake during the anesthesia.
As for postoperative analgesia, the epidural tube is kept for 48 hours after the operation, and an analgesic pump that can continue to administer drugs is connected. At the same time, if the patient feels the incision is still painful, the dosage of the analgesic pump can be increased automatically, so this way is called PATIEN CONTROL ANEASTHESIA.
