Seapods are long metal tubes with microengineered properties throughout their entire pipeline. It is an important component of minimally invasive catheters that need to be used in conjunction with balloons and stents to open arterial blockages. The balloon portion of the catheter is attached to the distal end of the seaborne tube. The tube enters the body and pushes the balloon along a long convoluted blood vessel toward the clogged artery. In this process, the tube needs to avoid kinks and at the same time be able to smoothly travel (push, track and turn) through the body structure.
