Tube End Reduction
May 02, 2022
Similar to tube tapering (which is the reduction of tube ends over longer angular lengths), tube end reduction can be done on a rotary reducer or hydraulic end-forming machine. The latter, using static forming dies and fixtures can form tubes up to 5.5" in diameter, much larger than rotary forged diameters
However, spin reduction has other benefits. all these are:
Does not disrupt the grain structure of the base metal.
The workpiece may be hot or hot. Suitable for thick-walled parts.
Tube layering. Tubes of different metals can be reduced one by one, creating a "sandwich" effect.
