The Operation Of Liver Biopsy Needle
Dec 19, 2022
Liver biopsy needle tissue examination should be performed in a hospital by a specially trained physician. At present, the most commonly used method is "one-second" liver puncture. The specimens obtained by puncture are 1 ~ 2cm long and about 1mm in diameter. They are first placed on absorbent paper, then fixed in 10% formaldehyde and sent to the pathology department for examination. The advantages of this method are that the puncture needle stays in the liver for a short time, the operation method is relatively easy and safe, and the discomfort of the patient is less than that of other methods. The main disadvantage is the high failure rate of liver fibrosis.
In 1982, it was reported that the method of transvenous liver puncture was used. A catheter was inserted into the right internal jugular vein, and the liver vein was reached through the right atrium under the guidance of X-ray. A puncture needle is then inserted through this catheter to extract liver tissue. This method is suitable for patients with bleeding tendency, and the technical requirements are relatively complicated.
