Nov 10, 2022

An X-ray examination in which a special puncture needle is inserted into the intrahepatic bile duct through the skin for angiography. It is clinically used to distinguish intrahepatic and extrahepatic cholestasis, l to identify the location, nature and scope of bile duct obstruction, l to understand the etiology of postcholecystectomy syndrome, etc. Patients with bleeding tendency, iodine allergy, biliary tract infection and moderate or higher ascites should avoid this procedure. Transient bacteremia, i bile leakage, i liver injury bleeding are the possible complications of this examination. In recent years, ultrasound-guided cholangiography can improve the success rate and diagnostic accuracy of cholangiography.
