The front of the lower limb is bounded by the groin and the anterior abdominal wall; the external side and the back are bounded by the line between the iliac crest and the posterior superior iliac spine to the tip of the coccyx and the lumbar region and the sacrocaudal region; the internal side is bounded by the femoral groove of the perineum and the perineum. Lower extremity can be divided into hip, thigh, knee, leg, condyle and foot, in addition to the hip, each part is divided into two areas: the foot part is the back of the foot and the sole, the other parts are divided into the anterior and posterior two areas.

The nerves in the lower limbs come from the lumbar plexus and the sacral plexus. Lower limb nerve block anesthesia is suitable for hip, knee, ankle, foot and other parts of the operation, especially the elderly and frail patients, because of spinal injury patients difficult to perform spinal anesthesia, and patients with cardiopulmonary disease or lung infection. Lower extremity nerve block anesthesia mainly used lumbar plexus and sciatic nerve block. The "three-in-one block" of femoral nerve, lateral femoral cutaneous nerve and obturator nerve is suitable for many surgeries involving thigh and knee. Sciatic nerve block is widely used in hip, knee, or distal lower extremity surgery.
